The Karlsruhe Center for Material Signatures (KCM) is an alliance of three institutes at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and the Visual Inspection Systems (SPR) department at the Fraunhofer Institute for Optronics, System Technologies, and Image Exploitation (IOSB). Using state-of-the-art analysis technology, we make the spectral information of your material visible.

The state of the art in the optical characterization of materials is advancing rapidly. New insights into the theoretical foundations of this research are being gained and exciting developments are being achieved in practice, driven by new applications and innovative sensor technologies that are constantly evolving.

With two conferences, the Image Processing Forum and the OCM, the KCM offers a platform for the presentation, discussion, and evaluation of the latest research results in this interdisciplinary field.

OCM-Conference

KCM and KIT organize the international Conference OCM, which takes place every two years in Karlsruhe. The topic of the conference is the optical characterization of materials.

Image Processing Forum

KCM and KIT organize the FBV, which takes place every two years in Karlsruhe. The forum aims to report on current trends on solutions in image processing and to contribute to the professional exchange between the participants.

Analysis Cooperation

Due to the application of special knowledge of the participating partners from different disciplines, we are in a position to identify specific signatures of objects in your samples.
